Oshiomhole’s Removal: Court Makes Decision

A Federal Capital Territory, FCT High Court, in Jabi, on Thursday declined the Ex-Parte Application filed by the National Vice Chairman, North East of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, Comrade Mustapha Salihu, a factional Chairman of the APC in Edo state, Anselm Ojezua and others, seeking to remove the National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole from office.

Lukman, had told Oshiomhole to convene a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the party or resign without further ado.

Lukman’s call came on the heels of the multiple internal crisis rocking the party in states across the country.

Edo Assembly Calls For Removal Of Esan West LG Chairman

The Edo State House of Assembly on Monday, suggested the removal of Mr Patrick Aguinede, the suspended chairman of Esan West Local Government Council, over alleged unremitted Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

The request followed the consideration of the report of the panel of enquiry constituted by Gov. Godwin Obaseki to investigate allegations of fraud leveled against the chairman.

The report of the panel of inquiry was on Monday forwarded to the house by the governor.

The Leader of the House, Roland Asoro moved for the House to resolve into the Committee of the Whole to consider the report.

FG Not Contemplating Subsidy Removal, Says Slyva

The Minister of State for Petroleum, Timipre Slyva, has said that the federal government is not in any way contemplating the removal of subsidy, even as he revealed that oil has been discovered in commercial quantity in Bauchi State.

Slyva disclosed this Thursday while briefing the Joint National Assembly Committees on Petroleum Resources (upstream) on the 2019 budget performance and the proposed 2020 budget.

He said that while the subsidy might not be very clearly captured in the 2020 budget, provision was made for fuel subsidy.

FG plans removal of fuel subsidy

The Minister of Finance, Mrs Zainab Ahmed says the Federal Government will look into gradual removal of fuel subsidy as part of strategies to boost revenue.

Ahmed said this on Thursday on the sideline of the IMF/World Bank meetings currently taking place in Washington DC, United States of America.

Ahmed made the disclosure while reacting to the IMF’s advice to Nigeria and other countries who still subsidise fossil fuel to stop doing so.
