Owerri: Ihedioha Approves Rehabilitation Of 5 Roads

Imo Governor, Chief Emeka Ihedioha has approved the rehabilitation of five major roads in the state, with failed sections totaling over 155km.

The approval was contained in a release signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Chibuike Onyeukwu and made available to newsmen in Owerri on Wednesday.

Onyeukwu listed the affected roads to include the failed section of the 52 km Owerri-Egbu-Mbaise-Obowo road, the failed section of Owerri-Njaba-Orlu 32km road and the Aboh-Itu Ezinihitte Mbaise 7.1km road.

Others are the failed section of Owerri-Amaraku-Anara–Onuimo-Umunna-Okigwe 51 km road and the Achingali-Onicha-Udo na Obizi 14 km road.

NSCDC Busts Two Rehabilitation Centres In Kaduna

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kaduna State Command has busted two more rehabilitation centres alleged of meting inhuman treatments to their inmates.

The state NSCDC Deputy Commandant, Mr Nnegha Onyema, made the disclosure at a press briefing on Tuesday, in Kaduna.

According to Onyema, five operators of the centres, which are within Zaria Local Government area, have been arrested and 11 inmates evacuated.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that among the 11 inmates, with ages ranging between 11 years and 40 years, one is from Osun State.

More than 110,000 people are taking part in search and rescue operations after Typhoon Hagibis struck Japan on Saturday. The typhoon – the worst storm to hit the country in decades – has left at least 37 dead, with 20 missing.
