Era Of Reckless Spending Over In Kwara, Says AbdulRazaq

Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara state has declared that the era of reckless spending by public office holders was over in the state.

The governor said this on Friday in Ilorin in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

NAN reports that the governor was reacting to a news report by an Ilorin based newspaper that he bought three bullet-proof vehicles for himself, his and son.

According to Ajakaye, the governor has no reason to feign modesty as alleged in the report.

An office support staff of the Lagos State Inland Revenue Service (LIRS), Mr. Michael Green, has alleged that he was detained at Makinde Division, on false accusation of being a thief and phone snatcher.

The incident allegedly happened on Friday June 7.

According to Green, he was riding in a colleague’s car when he cautioned the policemen who were coming from Ogun State in a Toyota Sienna car against dangerous driving.

Apparently irked by Green’s audacity, the policemen were said to have stopped his vehicle and arrested him.

How reckless driver caused Ibadan tanker fire

Details emerged yesterday about how a reckless car driver triggered the fire incident that claimed the lives of three people, three cars and more than 10 motorcycles in Ibadan during the week.

Also destroyed in the fire incident were kiosks belonging to a motorcycle seller and a lottery operator. The havoc wreaked by the incident according to eyewitnesses would have been worse but for the quick removal of vehicles in a nearby car wash. The operator was said to have quickly driven the vehicles to safety when the fuel started spilling from the tanker.
