A survey conducted by NOIPolls has revealed a decline in the proportion of Nigerians who report rape incidence to the police.

According to the report, this inferred that Nigerians are not satisfied with the level of prosecution of rape offenders in the country when reported to the police.

The report, which was presented in Abuja yesterday, came on the heels of the rising trend of rape cases in the country.

The Police on Sunday said they were yet to arraign Senator Clifford Abbo for alleged assault on a woman because investigators have not had access to the original Close Circuit Television (CCTV) recording.

Police prosecute native doctor for allegedly cheating woman

A 29-year-old native doctor, Terfa Bur,  on Wednesday appeared in a Makurdi Chief Magistrates’ Court for intimidating and cheating a woman.

Bur, who lives at N0 36, Daniel Amokachi Lane, Makurdi, is charged with criminal breach of Ttust, intimidation and cheating

He, however, pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecution Counsel, ASP Edward Imo, told the court that one Iwuese Adaga reported the case at the ‘D’ Division Police Station, Makurdi on Feb 26.

Police prosecute two fake lawyers in Lagos

The Police, yesterday, arraigned two fake lawyers, Taiwo Alatise and Abiodun Olatoye, in an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

The Police charged Alatise, 53, and Olatoye, 67, with six counts bordering on conspiracy, stealing, obtaining under false pretences, forgery and being in possession of false documents. They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Insp. Kehinde Omisakin, the prosecutor told the court that the defendants committed the offences on January 16, at Ilupeju, Lagos.
