Osinbajo Lists Projects To Be Completed In Next Few Years

Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has said having instituted reforms covering critical sectors of the economy over the past four years, Nigeria under the Buhari administration is making steady progress on the path of prosperity.

Osinbajo stated this on Saturday in Lagos in a keynote address he delivered at the Redeemer’s Men Fellowship Conference themed “Galvanized for Geometric Growth.”

President Muhammadu Buhari has listed some projects Nigerians should expect to come upstream by 2020.

This was part of the President’s New Year message he personally signed and made available to THISDAY on January 1.

The Enugu State Executive Council (EXCO) has awarded contracts for the construction and rehabilitation of more urban and rural roads, in keeping with the state government’s commitment to infrastructural development in the state.

Briefing newsmen after the meeting of the State Executive Council (EXCO), the Commissioner for Information, Nnanyelugo Chidi Aroh, disclosed that Alor Street, which connects Thinker’s Corner with Abakpa Nike road in Enugu East Local Government Area, was approved by the council for rehabilitation, to serve as a bypass.

The House of Representatives has set up an ad-hoc committee to investigate the amount of unspent constituency project funds not remitted in the last 10 years.

The House ordered the investigation following the adoption of a motion moved by the Speaker, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, on the need to refund unspent budgeted monies.

A report on the distribution of Zonal Intervention Projects (ZIPs) has shown that the South West has the lowest appropriation of funds amongst the six geo-political zones in Nigeria.

The report was prepared by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC).

It shows the zone by zone and state by state distribution of the N100 billion constituency projects sponsored by members of the National Assembly in their various constituencies in the 2019 budget.

Global Investors Mull $67b Projects For Africa In 2020

African countries will next year host projects worth $67 billion in critical sectors spanning energy, agriculture, housing, rail and telecoms infrastructure among others.
President of the African Development Bank, Dr Akinwunmi Adesina, who disclosed this at the opening press conference of the African Investment Forum (AIF) in Johannesburg said the amount was spread across 59 boardroom transactions for private sector projects.

Kwara State Governor, Alhaji AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has approved ₦60 million counterpart funds to key into the World Bank-funded Community and Social Development Projects (CSDP) that will help attract development to rural areas.

Over $5b wasted on constituency projects since 2000 – ICPC

The Chairman, Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, said the nation had spent about N2 trillion($5,518,611,400)  on constituency projects without commensurate development at the grassroots.

The Commission’s spokesperson, Mrs Rasheedat Okoduwa, in a statement in Abuja on Sunday quoted the chairman as saying it at the induction of newly-qualified members  of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors in Abuja.

Twelve Nigerian film projects have been presented to French filmmakers at the maiden edition of the  French- Nigeria Cinema Days for co-production deals.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the films written, and to be directed by Nigerian filmmakers, were announced  on Wednesday  at the event holding from July 2-3 at the Alliance Francaise in Lagos State.
