Hope Uzodinma Probes Okorocha, Ohakim And Ihedioha

The newly-inaugurated governor of Imo state, Senator Hope Uzodinma, has ordered an investigation into the administrations of three former governors of the state.

They are Ikedi Ohakim, Rochas Okorocha and and his immediate-predecessor, Emeka Ihedioha. Uzodinma gave the order in his inaugural speech immediately he was sworn-in.

He also ordered the Accountant General of the state to forward to him within four days from Wednesday, a comprehensive financial status of the state from May 29, 2010, till date.

NSCDC Probes Fraudulent Messages On Recruitment

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has commenced investigations to fish out those behind fake messages being sent to unsuspecting candidates who had applied for employment in the organisation to send their names for replacement and report for training.
 
The NSCDC said there is no replacement taking place in the Corps and the fraudulent messages neither emanated from the Corps nor the Civil Defence, Immigration, Fire and Correctional Services Board which is saddled with the sole responsibility of recruitment into the Corps.

House Probes Unexecuted Constituency Projects

The House of Representatives has set up an ad-hoc committee to investigate the amount of unspent constituency project funds not remitted in the last 10 years.

The House ordered the investigation following the adoption of a motion moved by the Speaker, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, on the need to refund unspent budgeted monies.

The ad hoc committee, chaired by Hon. Francis Agbo, was also tasked to unmasked the defaulting agencies and report back to the House for further legislative action.

House Probes Alleged Violation Of Labour Laws By IOCs

The House of Representatives has ordered an investigation into the alleged violation of labour laws by international oil companies (IOCs), including the casualisation of labour.

The House also directed the Minister of Labour, Employment and Productivity, Dr. Chris Ngige, to provide to the Committee on Labour, Employment and Productivity a performance update and report concerning plan to reform the process of granting and renewing recruiters’ licence to labour contractors as announced in July 2018.

Senate Probes ₦2.5bn NDDC Water Hyacinth Project

The Senate says it is probing the award of Water Hyacinth Emergency and Desilting Contracts awarded by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) from 2017 to 2019.

Chairman Senate Committee on Public Accounts, Sen. Matthew Urhoghide made this known when the Director, Special Duties of the NDDC, Nosakhare Agbongiasede appeared before the committee in Abuja on Thursday.

Urhoghide said that the investigation became imperative because the initial cost of the contract at ₦2.5 billion was allegedly jerked to ₦65 billion on the project.
