Adamawa Government Sacks Polytechnic Staff

Adamawa government on Tuesday issued sack letters to some academic and non-academic staff of the state polytechnic, employed from the year 2017 to 2019.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) gathered that those affected are over 300.

A letter to those affected, signed by the Acting Registrar of the polytechnic, Mrs Rebecca Kinjir, stated that the action was in compliance with the recommendation of the Visitation Panel to the institution, set up by Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri.

The letter, with the tittle “Stand-Down of Appointment of Staff Employed Between 2017-2019” said those affected should handover all school properties in their possession.…

Lecturers and the management of Ondo State-owned Polytechnic have been at loggerheads over the week. Alleging high handedness, corruption and acts contrary to laid down rules, lecturers under the umbrella of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP) at the weekend asked Ondo State Government to remove the Chairman of Governing Council of the state-owned Rufus Giwa Polytechnic in Owo (RUGIPO), Mr. Banji Alabi.

Akwa Ibom govt. appropriates ₦100m for polytechnic courses

Gov. Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom, says the state government has earmarked ₦100 million as grant for the state-owned polytechnic to begin the process of securing full accreditation for its courses.

According to a statement by Mr Essien Uduese, the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Emmanuel said this at the sixth convocation of the polytechnic held at its Ikot Osurua campus in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area of the state.

The governor was quoted to have also expressed delight that the National Board for Technical Education had granted approval to the polytechnic for a few outstanding courses.

He
