PDP Withdraws From Ekiti LG Polls, Accuses EKSIEC Of Bias

Ahead of the December 7 local government election in Ekiti State, the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ado Local Government Area of the state has withdrawn from the race, it would not allow Governor Kayode Fayemi to allegedly use the party members to legitimise a “skewed and predetermined process.”

The opposition party added that rather than dissipating energies on the elections, it would focus on the 2022 governorship election with the aim of returning to the number one position.

The All Progressive Congress (APC) in Niger State has been immersed in a crisis of certificate forgery involving aspirants contesting the forthcoming local government election.

Daily Sun learnt that following complaints from some party faithful, the Department of State Security (DSS), has waded in to help unravel the genuineness of certificates submitted to party and the state independent Electoral Commission by some chairmanship and four councillorship aspirants.

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, yesterday, played a video recording before the Election Petition Tribunal to establish the allegation that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) used a central server during the February 23 polls.

The film featured the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mike Igini, notifying the public that the electoral body would transmit election results with the use of smart card reader (SCR) to the INEC central server.

Catalonia’s former president Carles Puigdemont, who fled Spain in 2017 after a secession attempt, can contest EU polls this month, a Madrid court said Monday, overturning a decision by the electoral board.

A court spokesman said Puigdemont would be able to run, as would Toni Comin and Clara Ponsati, who were in the regional government during the secession bid and fled. They had also been excluded.
