The candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won the re-run elections in most of the 11 states where elections were conducted on Saturday.

It won in Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Benue, Kano, Niger and Sokoto.

On the other hand, the All Progressives Congress (APC) cleared the re-run in Imo and Ogun States while both the ruling party and the main opposition party shared the available seats in Kaduna and Cross River States.

Ahead of the February 29 Local Government Election in Enugu State, members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, loyal to foreign affairs minister, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama have released a list of the party’s candidates.

The list made available to THISDAY on Thursday, contained names of chairmanship and councilorship candidates.

It was signed by Comrade Adolphus Ude, as the Pioneer Deputy State Chairman of the party, as well as Enugu State Youth Coordinator, President Muhammadu Buhari re-election campaign, 2019.

The move to stop the re-election bid of a former chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State, Hon. Patrick Omeje got messier on Friday.

Voting has commenced in the Kogi Governorship and National Assembly election in the western senatorial district of the state, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
INEC officials arrived as early as 7a.m. at various polling units visited by our correspondent in Mopamuro, while accreditation and voting commenced at exactly 8a.m.

The polling units visited by NAN were Orokere Ward 06 (PU= 001, 002, 003, 004, 005, 006, 007 and 008), Aiyedayo Ward 08 (PU= 004 and 003 unit) and Aiyeteju Ward 09 (PU= 001, 002, 003 and 004 unit.

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) says it is set to monitor Saturday’s governorship elections in Bayelsa and Kogi for vote buying and selling.
