Federal Government’s plan to concession airports has run into difficulties over existing debt and pact with China to build four new terminals at the cost of $500 million. The ‘concession within concession’, according to the coalition of aviation workers’ unions, is untidy and not in the best interest of the country. Fools In Politics Hardly Believe That Power Is Transient

Fools In Politics Hardly Believe That Power Is Transient

In these contemporary times, kingdoms, nations or countries are now being built with political strategy unlike in the medieval era, when unnecessary wars were fought and lives wasted. Today, such wars for political control or domination are seldom fought; instead well articulated diplomatic onslaughts are launched by superior powers to control and propagate imperialism in the developing countries but extremely rich with natural and human resources.

Whilst the Western and a few Arab and Asian countries had since left the ancient style of political control by incessant wars amongst themselves, Africa as a continent is still far from getting to …

Mali’s Ill-Equipped Army In Spotlight After Coup

Mali’s army, which staged last month’s coup in the war-torn nation, is taking on a role in politics despite being hamstrung by a crippling lack of resources.

The August 18 putsch came after months of protests against ousted leader Ibrahim Boubacar Keita and sent shockwaves across a region beset by jihadist attacks and grinding poverty.

The country’s neighbours, and its ally and former colonial ruler France, called for a swift transfer of power over fears of even more instability as Mali grapples with an Islamist insurgency, ethnic violence and economic malaise.

Its fourth coup in 60 years as an independent …

Oshiomhole, Obaseki’s Naked Brawl

Oshiomhole, Obaseki’s Naked Brawl

One of the many contraptions that have defied evolution in Nigeria is our politics. We still practise the basest, vilest and crudest kind of politics. In fact, there is a more transparent and disciplined political system in the animal kingdom than there is in our country.

Some studies have shown that baboons have an ordered democratic system – not based on social dominance but on purpose, merit and importance. Baboons will not follow any member of their troupe based on his rank or social significance but squarely on if that member has direction and purpose.

Also, honey bees have one …

Punch Playing Partisan Politics Not Journalism –Presidency

The Presidency has accused the Punch newspapers of playing partisan opposition politics and not journalism in its decision to address President Muhammadu Buhari as Major General, to protest his “disregard” for the rule of law.

In a second statement from the presidency on the matter, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, described Punch newspapers’ decision as absurd particularly when it never changed former Olusegun Obasanjo’s title to General, even when he disobeyed Supreme Court order  withholding local government funds of Lagos State.

It said: “It is unprecedented and absurd in our recent political history. The Punch …
