Police Comb Creeks For Abducted Cross River NLC Chairman

The police in Cross River State have begun a manhunt for the kidnappers of the state Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Ben Ukpepi, who was abducted from his residence on Tuesday.

The police said they were combing the creeks to rescue Ukpepi, who was whisked away from his CROSPIL Estate residence in the Akpabuyo Local Government Area of the state around 8pm.

The Nigeria Police on Saturday announced the arrested of popular music artiste, Duncan Mighty.

This was contained in a statement by SP Ikeokwi Godson Orlando, spokesman of the Imo State Police Command.

Yuletide: Police Ban Use Of Fireworks In Enugu

The Police Command in Enugu State has reiterated its ban on use of fireworks, knockout and bangers this Yuletide.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ebere Amaraizu, said this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Enugu.

Indian police on Friday shot dead four gang-rape and murder suspects, prompting celebrations but also accusations that they were extrajudicial executions.

The men, who had been in custody for a week over the latest rape case to shock India, were shot in the early hours during a re-enactment of the crime organised by police in Shadnagar, outside the southern city of Hyderabad.

“The police brought the accused to the crime spot as part of the investigation. The accused then started attacking the police with stones and sticks and then snatched the weapons and started firing,” police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar said.

The Ebonyi Police Command on Thursday said it had uncovered a new strategy used by criminals to rob bank customers.

The command’s spokesperson, Mrs Loveth Odah, made this known in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abakaliki.
