South Africa Church: Five Killed In Hostage Situation

Five people have been killed and six hospitalized after gunmen took hostages at a church in South Africa on Saturday, police said.

It was unclear how many hostages were in the church at the time, but all have been freed, according to the South African Police Service. They have arrested 40 suspects in relation to the attack at the International Pentecostal Holiness Church in Zuurbekom, northwest of Pretoria.

One person was killed and another wounded in a shooting at a Black Lives Matter rally in the US state of Kentucky, police said.

The incident Saturday took place at Jefferson Square Park in the center of Louisville where protestors have gathered for weeks over the killing of African American woman Breonna Taylor.

Sri Lankan Police said on Monday that more than 46,000 people had been arrested for violating a curfew, which has been in place since March 20, in several districts across the country.

The Police in Imo state has confirmed the arrest of Sydney Ogudoro, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) official who allegedly killed the Action Alliance (AA) chieftain, Chief Ndubuisi Emenike.

Imo Police Beef Up Security Ahead Saturday’s Rerun

The Imo State Police Command has assured of its preparedness for Saturday’s election rerun in Okigwe North, Orlu Federal Constituency and Njaba State Assembly.

Kaduna: Police Kill 2 Bandits, Rescue 20 Kidnapped Victims

Some passengers numbering about eight abducted on Wednesday afternoon along Kaduna-Zaria highway have been rescued by the police.

Also rescued were three workers of Airtel Communications Company abducted on Tuesday, and nine others kidnapped on Jan. 14 when bandits attacked the convoy of the Emir of Potiskum.
