Arteta Challenge Arsenal Players To Fill Aubameyang’s Boots

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has called on his players to “step up” and fill the goalscoring void left by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s absence after the forward’s three-match ban was upheld.

The Gabon international, who opened the scoring in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace, was booked for a tackle on Max Meyer but the video assistant referee upgraded the punishment to a red card.

Arsenal appealed against Aubameyang’s dismissal but the punishment stands.

The former Borussia Dortmund player, 30, has scored 14 of Arsenal’s 29 Premier League goals this season.

“Players have to step up,” Arteta said on Wednesday when asked …

Messi And Ronaldo Wouldn’t Do What Rugby Players Do: Jones

England coach Eddie Jones contrasted what he said was rugby’s down to earth attitude with that of football superstars Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as he lauded All Blacks boss Steve Hansen ahead of Saturday’s blockbuster World Cup semi-final.

Jones and Hansen are two of the most successful coaches in the modern game, with the New Zealander looking to guide the All Blacks to a third straight World Cup title in Japan 2019 and fourth in total.
