Gunmen Kidnap ​Pastor In Plateau, Demand ₦20m Ransom

The Police Command in Plateau State has confirmed the abduction of a Christian cleric, Rev. Bung Dong sparking fresh fears in the area. 

Africa Daily News, New York reports that Dong was kidnapped at Ganawuri community in Riyom Local Government Area of the state.

DSP Alfred Alabo, Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed the incident to newsmen in an interview in Jos.

Alabo said Dong was abducted on Sunday night, alongside one James Mann who was later rescued.

Mann, Principal of Government Secondary School in Bum, is the younger brother of State Chief Judge, Justice David Mann.

A Catholic priest of St Anthony’s Parish, Angware community in the Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau State, Rev James Kantoma was on Monday night kidnapped by some unknown gunmen.

Africa Daily News, New York gathered that Kantoma who is also the chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in the Council area, was abducted at his house in the community by the gunmen on Monday morning.

There is palpable tension in Plateau State following reports that Soldiers attached to Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), a multi-security taskforce, maintaining peace in Plateau, allegedly beat a taxi driver, Sadik Abdullahi Karafa, to death.

According to reports, the deceased was reportedly beaten by the soldiers stationed at Paringada Market while returning from Mangu before the curfew hour.

The curfew is from 10 pm to 6 am but Sadik was said to have returned around 9:20 pm.

Abdullahi Karafa, an elder brother of the deceased, narrated how his brother was killed by the soldiers.

Isaac Boniface, a resident of forest community of Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, yesterday said he mistakenly raped a four-year-old girl in his compound.

Plateau: Coronavirus: 4 Chinese, 39 Nigerians Quarantined

Plateau State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Lar Ndam Nimkong said 43 persons including Chinese national have been isolated in mining sites in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.
