Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau has assured youths of participation in his administration in order to address their problems and enhance development in the state.

Lalong gave the assurance on Sunday at the 2020 Harvest and Thanksgiving mass of St. Monica’s Catholic Church, Rantya, Jos.

The Commander of the Special Task Force, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), maintaining peace in Plateau, Kaduna and Bauchi States, Maj.-Gen. Chukwuemeka Okonkwo has urged residents of Southern Kaduna to sheath their swords and embrace peace.

Okonkwo gave the advice at the Atyap Peace, and Reconciliation Summit organised to foster peaceful coexistence among residents of the Chiefdom on Saturday in Zangon Kataf.

A Group of Mwagjhavul lawyers, on Wednesday, stormed the Police Command in Plateau to protest the invitation of their Paramount ruler, Da Nelson Bakfur for questioning as ordered by Gov. Simon Lalong.

Lalong had ordered the arrest of all Ardos (Fulani) and community leaders in four crisis ridden Local Government Areas of the State, including Mangu, Bokkos, Barkin Ladi and Riyom.

The governor’s order came on the heels of series of attacks in villages in Mangu and Bokkos local government areas within a span of two weeks that left many people dead.

The Plateau Government has approved the creation of seven new layouts to expand the Jos metropolis, the State Commissioner of Lands, Survey and Town Planning, Mr Yakubu Datti, has said.

Yuletide: Police Deploys 3, 300 Personnel In Plateau

In its efforts to ensure a hitch-free Christmas and new year celebration, the Plateau State Police Command said it has put in place a robust and elaborate security arrangements by deploying 3, 300 personnel for the yuletide.

The command also said visibility policing has commenced on the highways in the state and security has been beefed up in relaxation centres; and has advised travellers to use authorised motor parks while boarding vehicles to travel.
