Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has assured that the Southwest geopolitical zone has no plans to secede from Nigeria in the heat of the controversy generated by the launch of Western Nigeria Security Network code-named Operation Amotekun.

Dr. Fayemi said the Southwest region remains part of Nigeria, will continue to be part of Nigeria and remain committed to a united and indivisible Nigeria.

Ortom’s Spokesman Reveals Governor’s Plans For Youths

Chief Press Secretary to the Benue State Governor, Mr Terver Akase has reaffirmed the commitment of his principal to initiatives and programmes that promote the interests of youths.

The Governor’s spokesman gave the affirmation on Friday in Makurdi when he, accompanied by his wife, Mrs Jessica Akase, received the 2019 winner of Face of Fresh Fish Festival contest, Karl Princess Doosuur.

He congratulated Miss Doosuur on her victory in the competition and urged her to uphold the qualities which stood her out among other contestants.

Wike: Dickson Plans To Defect To APC To Avoid EFCC Arrest

Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike has accused his Bayelsa counterpart Seriake Dickson of planning to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) to avoid arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for corruption at the end of his tenure.
“Dickson concluded plans to join the APC…(and) colluded with these people so that EFCC will not arrest him when he leaves Government,” Wike said in a statement by his media aide Simeon Nwakaudu.

Both governors of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) but have been at loggerheads since the party lost the Bayelsa State governorship election to the APC in November.

Nigerian Govt Reveals Plans For Diaspora Voting

Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), under the presidency, has said that the commission was seeking an amendment of the Electoral Law to enable more than 20 million Nigerians living abroad to vote in the country’s general election.

She spoke in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday at an event organised by the state government in conjunction with some youth organizations.

Fears of another eruption at the New Zealand volcano believed to have killed 15 people made it too dangerous for emergency teams to recover bodies, police said Wednesday, as doctors fought to save survivors who suffered horrific burns.

The official death toll after Monday’s explosion on White Island stands at six, with police listing another nine as missing, up from the previous figure of eight.

Huawei Plans Legal Challenge To Latest US Pressure: Report

Chinese telecoms giant Huawei is preparing a legal counterpunch against new moves by American regulators to bar the company from accessing $8.5 billion in US federal funds for services and equipment, a report said Friday.
