Fuel Scarcity: NNPC Distributes One Billion Litres PMS

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPC), has revealed that it is has commenced the process of distributing one billion litres of safe Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), known as petrol, in its stock to various fuel stations nationwide to ease the scarcity of the product.

The NNPC also disclosed that about 2.3 billion litres of PMS would arrive Nigeria between now and February ending to address the current situation and restore sufficiency.

President Muhammadu Buhari has announced a new price for the pump price of petrol in the country.

Buhari said fuel will now be sold at ₦161 per litre in Nigeria, noting that other nations such as Ghana, Niger, Chad Saudi Arabia and other oil-producing countries sell petrol on a higher price than Nigeria.

The Federal Government has appealed to those living in border communities to exercise more patience over the suspension of fuel supply to their areas.

NAN recalls that the Federal Government, through the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), in November 2019, announced the suspension of petrol and diesel supply to filling stations within 20 kilometres radius to all Nigerian borders.

One person was killed and others injured in protests that spread Saturday across Iran after a surprise decision to impose petrol price hikes and rationing in the sanctions-hit country.

Reports indicate that a petrol truck erupted into flames close to Gowon Estate at Alimosho, Lagos.

According to AN24, the incident happened around 6:30 am Monday, at a parking site for trucks along the road.
