Senator Samaila Kaila Defects To APC, Blames PDP Crisis

Senator Samaila Kaila, who represents Bauchi North, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The announcement was made during Tuesday’s plenary session by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who read the senator’s letter of resignation from the PDP.

In the letter read before the Senate, Kaila attributed his decision to ongoing internal crises within the PDP, saying the divisions had hindered his ability to serve his constituents effectively.

”The Peoples Democratic Party has gravely constrained my ability to discharge my constitutional responsibilities effectively and in good conscience,” the senator wrote.
