Electricity Tariff: Nigerians Paying For Darkness – Reps

The Deputy Minority of the House of Representatives, Toby Okechukwu has raised the alarm on the recently announced increment in electricity tariffs.

Mr. Okechukwu while speaking to THISDAY queried the basis for the increment which resulted in the Enugu zone being charged more than Lagos. He said that the House through its committee on Power will interrogate the increment.

The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has disclosed that only five states have started implementing the new national minimum wage, eight months after passage into law by President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a communiqué issued at the end of its one-day stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja, the labour union listed Lagos, Kaduna, Kebbi, Adamawa and Jigawa states as those paying their workers the new salary package.

Shocking: Businesswoman Narrates Paying ₦1m Loan In Kind

A businesswoman has narrated to a Magistrate’s court in Ojo, Lagos State how she slept with her creditor to pay off a ₦1.1 million loan.

Ejioma Ahibafu, 49, told Court that she was taken to a hotel on three occasions where she slept with her creditor as part of the loan repayment.

The businesswoman, Ahibafu, who sells bags of rice, pleaded not guilty to a two-count charge of obtaining money by false pretence and stealing brought against her.
