SA: Ipid Investigating Shooting Of Actor Patrick Shai

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) isΒ investigating the shooting of actor Patrick Shai on Monday.

Shai was shot 11 times with rubber bullets when community members of Dobsonville, in Soweto, took to the streets to protest against power cuts in their area.

Sontaga Seisa, spokesperson for the police watchdog, said: β€œIt is further reported that Mr Shai was not part of the protest, but as a resident in the area, he realised that the situation was worth [it] to intervene.

Patrick Day Dies Following Brutal Knockout

American boxer, Patrick Day, died on Wednesday in Chicago as a result of the traumatic brain injury he suffered during his fight on Saturday, where he was knocked out by Charles Conwell in the 10th round.

Day, 27, had been in a coma for four days following his defeat and, in spite of having emergency brain surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, doctors were unable to save the junior middleweight.
