Tension is currently rising among residents of Ondo State over the outbreak of lassa fever in the state.

With 15 lives already lost and 28 currently battling for survival due to the outbreak, the state government is yet to speak on the issue.

A source at the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, said score of patients have been affected by the deadly disease, disclosing that the hospital no longer have enough bed spaces for patients.

Catholic Priest Dies In Anambra Fire Outbreak

A 60-year-old Catholic priest, Rev. Edmond Nwagbal was burnt beyond recognition when fire yesterday completely razed down St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, a parish located at Nnewi Ichi, Nnewi North Local Government Area Anambra State.

Eyewitness said the fire outbreak occurred at about 4:00 a.m.

The State Police Command confirmed the disaster in a statement noting that a resident priest, who was living in the parish house, lost his life.

Men of the Niger State Fire Service this afternoon prevented a fire outbreak at the office of the Permanent Secretary, Niger State Government House, Minna.

The fire outbreak, which started at about 12:35 pm was put out by a combined team of fire fighters at about 1:03 pm.

The United States’ worst measles outbreak in a quarter-century spread to Idaho and Virginia last week as public health authorities on Monday reported 41 new cases of the highly contagious and sometimes deadly disease.

The U.S. has recorded 1,022 cases of the diseases this year as of June 6, in an outbreak blamed on misinformation about vaccines, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.
