Court Restrains Ayade, 4 Others From Interfering In JSC

State High Court sitting in Calabar has restrained Governor Ben Ayade and four others from interfering in the affairs of  the Cross River State Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

Ayade,  on October 25,  inaugurated a four-man member   JSC  in what some lawyers consider a breach of the law.

The governor had earlier dissolved a five man commission inaugurated on July 7, 2017 while  its tenure was yet to expire.

Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has forwarded list of nominees for commissioners to the state house of assembly for screening.

Kano State House of Assembly Speaker Rt. Honourable Abdulazeez Gafaza who confirmed the list at the plenary on Monday said the house will commence screening of the nominees Tuesday.

Among the nominees who were former members of Ganduje cabinet are Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso, Murtala Sule Garo, Barrister Ibrahim Muktar, Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim Getso and Mohammed Garba.

Pirates Kill Two, Injure Several Others In Rivers

Sea pirates have killed two persons and injured several others in an attack on seven boats travelling from Bille, Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State, to Port Harcourt.
The seven boats were said to be travelling in a convoy on Saturday to Port Harcourt for a church programme when the hoodlums attacked them.

The Guardian gathered that the pirates operated freely for about five hours on the high sea without restrictions.

It was learnt that the bandits carted away all the belongings of the travellers, took their boats and abandoned them at the mangrove.

The Federal Government yesterday made good its threat to stop the salaries of all its workers, especially members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU),who are not featured on the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).

President Muhammadu Buhari had while presenting the 2020 budget proposal to the National Assembly, declared: “I have directed the stoppage of the salary of any Federal Government staff (sic) that is not captured on the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) platform by the end of October 2019.”

Libya: Three Children Killed, Others Injured By Air Strike

At least three children were killed and eight civilians wounded Monday in an airstrike on a residential neighbourhood near the Capital of Libya, the health ministry said.

Spokesman Lamine al-Hachemi said another child was seriously wounded and the parents of the dead children were also injured in the airstrike that hit their home in Al-Fernaj, a suburb southeast of Tripoli.
