NDA Kaduna Expels Cadets, Demotes Others For Indiscipline

The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) Kaduna, said on Friday that it has expelled some cadets from the Academy and demoted others found wanting in discipline and general conduct.

The Academy Public Relations Officer, Major Abubakar Abdullahi, who made the disclosure in a statement in Kaduna, however, did not state the number of cadets affected.

Abdullahi said that the relegation and withdrawal of the cadets, followed the conduct of the Academy’s periodic dossier on all cadets aimed to preserve discipline and improve general administration.

Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed a press conference held by members of a proscribed group, Edo Peoples Movement, saying the group’s agitations were fuelled by greed and avarice.

Native Doctor, 4 Others Arrested For Kidnapping In Abia

The police in Abia State have arrested a native doctor and four other kidnap suspects who had been terrorising residents of Isiala Ngwa and commuters within the Isiala Ngwa axis of the Enugu/Port Harcourt Expressway. 

The suspects are Nwankocha, 42, who claimed to be a native doctor, Alfred, 23, Ejike, 24, Azubunne, 24, and Monye, 23. According to the state Commissioner of Police, Ene Okon, the five suspects last week boarded a commercial bus heading from Umuahia to Aba, pretending to be genuine passengers.

Bandits Abduct Chief Imam, 20 Others In Niger Community

Bandits on Wednesday abducted the Chief Imam of Beni Central Mosque in Munya Local Government of Niger State, Alhaji Umar Ali, and 20 others.

Reports from the area has it that the bandits are busy sacking homes of the villagers and rustling their cattle and sheep without any resistance.

It was said that apart from those kidnapped, the bandits have killed four people and injured several others with one of them hit in the head by bullet.

UK: Teenagers, Others Arrested For Terrorism

The British police arrested a total of five men in various parts of England on suspicion of terrorism on Monday.

The arrests occurred in Manchester in the north-west, in Peterborough in eastern England and in London.

Some of the suspects, aged between 19 and 23, are accused of preparing a terrorist act. All five are in police custody, Dpa reports.

“The arrests were part of a pre-planned operation and it is not believed there will be any imminent threat to the public in relation to this,” the police statement said.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has secured the convictions of nine internet fraudsters and a banker before Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court sitting in Warri, Delta State.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has confirmed the death of two people in a gas explosion which occurred on Thursday.

It added that 23 others who were seriously injured were rescued from the explosion that occurred at Adule Street, Off Ojo Road, in Ajegunle area near Apapa, in Lagos State.
