Barely one week after the 87th National Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) met to discuss the nullification of the governorship election in Imo State by the Supreme Court that removed Hon. Emeka Ihedioha as governor, it will meet again on Monday to discuss the matter and other issues affecting the party.

Lebanese, Lawyer, One Other Arrested For Human Trafficking

Three suspects have been arrested over alleged human trafficking of one Ms Ajayi Omolola in Kwara State.

The suspects were, Wasit Muhammad, a Lebanese, Olatunji Sanusi, a lawyer and one Tunde, while one Joseph also a member of the gang is currently at large.

The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) on Friday destroyed unclassified and other prohibited films and videos.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the officials of the NFVCB, Nigeria Police Force and the Federal Fire Service were among stakeholders present at the exercise, which was held in Abuja.

The items destroyed included DVDs, CDs, copies of 20 in 1 video films, unclassified foreign and local films, as well as pornographic materials.

IAAF Cuts 200m, Three Other Events From Diamond League

The IAAF has dropped the 200 metres, 3,000m steeplechase, triple jump and discus from its list of “core” disciplines at Diamond League meetings in 2020.

The International Association of Athletics Associations said its decision was based on online research in China, France, South Africa, and the United States and post-event surveys in Belgium, Britain and Switzerland.

It said the aim was to reduce the length of the Diamond League meetings to fit a 90-minute international broadcast window.

There will be 12 disciplines staged at each of the 15 Diamond League meetings with the season beginning in Doha on April 17.

The Nigerian government on Thursday ordered the immediate suspension of the proposed Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) charges on customers who use them.

“After receiving briefing about the proposed USSD charges, I realized there was no justification for the new tariff,” minister of communication Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami said.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, on Friday, paraded 49 suspects and a fake police officer, who the police said were responsible for the high rate of criminality in Abuja.

The FCT Police Commissioner Bala Ciroma, while parading the suspects said that they were arrested at different locations in the Federal Capital Territory.

He said the arrest was as a result of the synergy and cooperation among the security agencies.

The Customs Service, Seme Border Area Command, says it has intercepted 875 bags of foreign parboiled rice and other goods, valued at N40m, in two weeks.

ASC Nuruddeen Saidu, the Customs Public Relations Officer, Seme, Area Command, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, in Lagos.

The statement quoted that the Customs Area Controller of the Command, Comptroller Mohammed Garba, as saying that the efforts of the enforcement unit of the Command, with regard to suppression of smuggling, was yielding remarkable results.

The Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC) Strike Force Zone ‘A’ has intercepted 2,494 bags of 50kg parboiled rice, 1288 jerrycans of vegetable oil and assorted cars with Duty Paid Value of N47million in one month.

The Officer in Charge of CGC strike force Zone ‘A’ Deputy Comptroller (DC)  Yahaya Biu, made the disclosure to newsmen on Thursday in Lagos.
