200 Yahoo Boys Arrested In October – EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), said it recorded no fewer than 200 arrests of Internet fraud suspects, popularly known as ‘Yahoo Boys’, in October alone.

The Acting Chairman of the commission, Mr Ibrahim Magu, stated this at an interactive session with newsmen on Friday in Abuja.

According to Magu, the biggest catch of the commission was Instagram celebrity, Ismaila Mustapha, a.k.a Mompha, and his Lebanese accomplice, Hamza Koudeih.

He said the suspects, who were “kingpins of an Organised Cyber Syndicate Network (OCSN)”, allegedly laundered a total of N33 billion.

FAAC: FG, States, Others Share ₦3.88trn In 6 Months

FG, States, LGAs Share ₦702bn In October – FAAC

The three tiers of government shared ₦702.058 billion as October revenue from the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC).
This was announced at the FAAC meeting on Wednesday, chaired by the Accountant-General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris.
From that figure, the Federal Government received ₦295.737 billion, while the States received ₦192.697 billion and the Local Government Councils got  N144.987 billion. The oil producing states received N49.164 billion as 13% derivation revenue and the revenue generating agencies received N19.472 billion as cost of revenue collection.

Court adjourns Kalu’s trial till October 22

A justice of the Court of Appeal, Mohammed Idris, sitting at the Federal High Court, Lagos, with the permission of the President of the Court of Appeal, yesterday ordered the former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu and other co-accused persons to file their final written addresses in the N7.2 billion fraud charge slammed against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The judge arrived at the decision after defendants concluded their defence and therefore put to rest their 12-year-old trial.
