
179 New York Police Officers File For Retirement In One Week
The New York Police Department (NYPD) is grappling with a surge in retirement applications, after 179 officers filed for retirement in one week between June 29 and Monday.
According to a spokesperson for the NYPD Deputy Commissioner, Sgt. Mary O’Donnell, on Wednesday, represents 411 per cent increase over 35 who filed during the same time period in 2019.
Speaking to newsmen on Wednesday evening, she described the trend as “troubling”.
