After much speculations which had surrounded the final reconciliation between the two main stakeholders in the Nigerian opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, some of their reconcilatory representatives have on Friday finally met and opened up their discussions for peace and reconciliation in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital.

Reports by Africa Daily News, New York have revealed that the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike while in Turkey had refused to grant any audience to a former Minister of Police Affairs, Adamu Waziri, who had been sent to speak with him by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.

Atiku Abubakar in a move for peace had deployed Mr Waziri to meet Governor Nyesom Wike, who is on holiday in the Eastern European country, after the governor rebuffed several attempts by the candidate to arrange a meeting between them.

Wike Finally Approves Payment Of Pension Arrears In Rivers

Pensioners in Rivers State have finally breathed a little sigh of relief as Nyesom Wike, the Rivers State Governor finally approved the immediate payment of outstanding gratuity, monthly pension, arrears, and death benefits of retirees in the state public service which came after persistent protests by Pensioners in the State.

A statement by the Director-General of the Rivers State Pension Board, Samuel Ijeoma said the exercise will be done in batches.
