Nvidia Chip Smuggling Case Leads To Arrests In U.S.

Two men with ties to China have been taken into U.S. custody over an alleged scheme to illegally ship advanced Nvidia chips to China, according to the Justice Department, in a case unfolding as Washington eases restrictions on certain chip exports to Beijing.

Federal prosecutors said Monday that Fanyue Gong, a 43 year old Chinese national living in New York, and Benlin Yuan, a 58 year old Canadian citizen originally from China, are accused of helping move Nvidia H100 and H200 chips to China in violation of U.S. export controls.
