How Past Nigeria Census Were Politicised – Masari

Kastina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari has asserted that previous censuses conducted in Nigeria have been wrongly politicised and that should not be allowed to repeat itself. 

Speaking while declaring open the state stakeholders’ summit ahead of the 2023 population and housing census, Masari reaffirmed that all the censuses conducted from 1963 to date including during the military region were conducted devoid of politics of tribal, religion, and regional dimensions.

NPC Conducts Successful Trial Census In Ogun – Report

In lieu of the already announced, April 2023 headcount, the National Population Commission (NPC) has finally conducted a trial census in Imeko Afon Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The exercise, which was started in July 20, will be coming to an end on Saturday.

 

The Executive Chairman of NPC, Nasir Isa Kwarra, who  had also monitored the exercise had reiterated that Imeko Afon was chosen as the pilot area for the trial census in the South-West geopolitical zone of the country.

The National Population Commission (NPC) in lieu with its earlier announcement of a trial census session has begun housePChold listing and building numbering in the Daura Local Government Area (LGA) of Katsina State.

There was mild pandemonium on Sunday when some unidentified gunmen had attacked and killed Mr. Zakari Kigbu, a former Federal Commissioner of National Population Commission (NPC) at his residence in Azuba community near Lafia, Nasarawa State capital.

ACP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Nasarawa State Command, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lafia.

According to Nansel, the gunmen stormed the victim’s residence at about 12:30 a.m. and shot at him before abducting two of his children- a boy and a girl.’

Panic As Robbers Break Into NPC Office To Steal Certificates

There was mild pandemonium today as the National Population Commission (NPC) Badagry office which is located at Town Hall near Topo Garage, in Lagos State was besieged by a group of armed robbers who turned the place over in search of some birth cerificates.

A staff member of the commission, Mrs Funmilayo Bojrenu told the Newsmen Badagry that vital documents belonging to NPC were stolen.
