The deal came after the US, the Kurds’ main ally, said it would withdraw its remaining troops from northern Syria.

Areas under the control of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) came under heavy bombardment over the weekend, with Turkey making …

North May Keep Presidency For 100 Years – Prof Abdullahi

The Chairman of Northern Elders Forum, Prof. Ango Abdullahi has warned that the North will only support candidates from the region in the race for 2023 presidency. He emphasized that zoning or power shift, which many southern leaders are agitating for is unconstitutional and would not be supported by the North. Grave Moment As North Korea Tests Missile Fired From Sea

North Korea has confirmed it test-fired a new type of a ballistic missile, a significant escalation from the short-range tests it has conducted since May.

The missile – which was able to carry a nuclear weapon – was the North’s 11th test this year.

But this one, fired from a platform at sea, was capable of being launched from a submarine.

Being submarine-capable is important as it means North Korea could launch missiles far outside its territory.

According to South Korean officials, the missile flew about 450km (280 miles) and reached an altitude of 910km before landing in the sea.…

Presidency: Igbo must strategise for 2023 – Aghanya

‘North holds the key to Igbo presidency in 2023’

Immediate past Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Dr. Joe Nworgu, in this interview  talks about Igbo presidency in 2023 and other national issues.

How would you describe President Buhari’s stance towards Southeast in the past four years in relation to your earlier position that his presidency won’t serve the interest of Ndigbo?
Four years ago, I was Secretary-General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo and I recall making public statements on how best it suited the Igbo and I did not factor President Buhari into it. I had followed President Buhari when he was head of state in 1983 through 1985, when he took power …

North can’t retain power, punish Igbo forever – Shehu Sani

The immediate past senator, who represented Kaduna Central in the Eighth National Assembly, Shehu Sani, has lampooned those suggesting the idea of the North holding on to power beyond 2023.

The senator, who was reacting to Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s recent call for abolition of power rotation, said it would be unfair for the North to hold grip of power in Nigeria and …

The threat to sack law abiding Southerners from the North

The threat to sack law abiding Southerners from the North

By Odumodu Gbulagu

  • The 30 days ultimatum

The threats didn’t start today!
Whenever the Fulani oligarchs don’t have their way on any burning issue they want, they use the Arewa youths to threaten the people.
I wouldn’t want to delve into the pogrom or even other riots that had nothing to with Southerners, but the turned the primary target.

In August 2017, Arewa youths threatened the Igbos in the North to vacate before October 1st or face being killed.

They released an anti Igbo song that was carefully worded to cause incitement.
It was spread throughout the social media, yet …

Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State on saturday, painted the picture of Nigeria as that of two countries in one: a developing South and a backward, less educated and unhealthy north, with the highest number of poor people in the world.

The governor spoke at the Northern Youth Summit in Kaduna organised by Northern Hibiscus, an NGO.

He said that for the problems to be tackled effectively, the governors of all the 19 northern states have to work together.

Banditry, kidnappings, and killings in the North

By Odumodu Gbulagu

In the times past when the kidnapping scourge was at it’s peak in the Southeast and South South geopolitical zones of Nigeria, the two zones were mocked by the rest of the country and the Igbos especially were accused of turning everything including kidnapping to money making venture.
Now the menace is a thing of the past in both zones, and it has become a lucrative and budding business in the unlikeliest of places: the Northern part of the country and
Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara and Abuja have become the hotbeds.
