Kanu’s Trial Adjourned As He Objects To Fresh Charges

The case of leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu was on Tuesday stalled and adjourned after he objected to the fresh charges brought against him by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Africa Daily News, New York had earlier reported that the Federal Government had filed fresh terrorism charges against the detained leader of the group before the Federal High Court on Monday.

Consequently, the initial seven counts bordering on treasonable felony and terrorism, against him, increased to 15.

But during his trial which held on Tuesday amidst heavy security presence, Kanu objected to the fresh charges.…

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Thursday lost his bid to be moved to the Kuje Correctional Centre.

Kanu’s request to be moved from the Kuje Correctional Centre from the Department of State Service, DSS, facility was rejected by Justice Binta Nyako of the Abuja Federal High Court.

His counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, prayed the court to transfer the pro-Biafra agitator from the DSS custody to Kuje prison.

Apex Igbo socio-political organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has appealed for calm over the re-arrest of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Africa Daily News, New York reports that the Igbo group also urged the Federal Government to handle his trial with caution and due legal procedure.

Ohanaeze cautioned Igbos to desist from any form of protest that will endanger the Southeast and Nigeria.

In the tweet earlier sighted by Africa Daily News, New York, Nnamdi Kanu had pledged that any soldier sent to the Southeast by the Nigerian Government will die.
