2 UAS, 9 Boats, 10 Armored Vehicles Delivered To NIMASA

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has announced that it has taken delivery of some additional mobile assets which would be implemented for enhanced maritime security in its “Deep Blue’’ project.

The delivery which contained two unmanned aircraft systems, 9 interceptor patrol boats and 10 armoured vehicles would be added to existing assets earlier procured by the Federal Government. The land assets also include the Command, Control, Communication, Computer, and Intelligence Centre for intelligence gathering and data collection.

Rivers Indigenes Condemn NIMASA Over Bad Distribution

A group in Rivers state under the aegis of Rivers Peoples Alliance has condemned plans by Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, to deliver Covid-19 items to the University of Portharcourt Teaching Hospital instead of the Rivers State Government. 

Recently, the same agency delivered coronavirus materials directly to the Lagos Government that coordinated the Lagos affairs.

Peeved by this development, the group in a statement signed by its General Secretary, Pius Okechukwu described the action as selective because Rivers is being controlled by an opposition party.

Nigeria’s former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has reacted to the removal of Dr. Dakuku Peterside, as the Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA.

Buhari had on Wednesday reportedly appointed the current Executive Director, Administration and Finance, Bashir Jamoh, as the new DG,

Jamoh will replace Peterside, who has been the head of the maritime agency since 10th March 2016 and whose tenure ends on 10th March 2020.

Peterside will complete his time in office March 10, 2020.

President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly sacked Dakuku Peterside, an ally to the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi as the Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).

The President also approved the appointment of the current Executive Director, Administration and Finance, Bashir Jamoh, as the new DG, The Sun report.

Dakuku Peterside, who was appointed by the Buhari administration in 2016, is expected to end his tenure on March 10, 2020.

The 56-year-old Kaduna-born Jamoh is also the current President of the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration

Peterside: NIMASA Contributed ₦16bn To Consolidated Revenue

The Director General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Peterside Dakuku has revealed that his agency has contributed the sum of ₦16 billion to the consolidated revenue fund in 2019.

He disclosed this yesterday while giving an account of the 2019 budget performance before the House of Representatives’ Committee on Maritime Safety, Education and Administration.

Court convicts Ex-NIMASA Acting DG for fraud

Justice Mojisola Olatoregum of a Federal High Court in Lagos on Thursday convicted a former Acting Director-General of NIMASA, Calistus Obi, charged with N136 million fraud.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had preferred an eight-count charge against Obi, who was also a former Executive Director of the agency.

He was charged along with one Alu Dismas, an aide to Patrick Akpobolokemi, a former Director-General of NIMASA – Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency.

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) have rued the high level of capital flight occasioned by inadequate participation of indigenous firms in the cargo affreightment value chain.
