Nigerian, French producers to work on new movie projects

Twelve Nigerian film projects have been presented to French filmmakers at the maiden edition of the  French- Nigeria Cinema Days for co-production deals.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the films written, and to be directed by Nigerian filmmakers, were announced  on Wednesday  at the event holding from July 2-3 at the Alliance Francaise in Lagos State.

Mr Yoann Talhouarne, Regional Audiovisual Attaché, Embassy of France in Nigeria, while making the announcement, said that over 50 Nigerian film proposals were submitted, from where the 12 were selected.

The federal government on Wednesday suspended the controversial Rural Grazing Area settlements for herdsmen across the nation.

Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State revealed this at the presidential villa in Abuja on Wednesday after a meeting with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

The governor said the reason the planned Ruga was suspended because it was not consistent with the National Livestock Transformation Plan.

Nigerian Army begins local production of tactical vehicles

The Nigerian Army says light tactical vehicles and other weapons being locally produced by its company, Nigerian Army Vehicle Manufacturing Company (NAVMC), will help in addressing Nigeria’s internal security challenges.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, stated this in an interview with newsmen on Thursday after he toured production lines in the company located at Rigachikun in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna state.

Buratai disclosed that the first set of the indigenous “light tactical vehicles’’ produced by the company would be exhibited on July 6.

Nigerian Army to upgrade museum to international standard

The Nigerian Army has commenced work on upgrading the army museum at the Mambilla Barracks to international standard.

The army which took a cue from the Arlington National Cemetery Museum in fashioning the Nigerian army museum will also be upgrading the Buratai Museum in Borno State.

For the upgrade to be a success, the army is collaborating with National Commission for Museums and Monuments (NCMM) to ensure that the vision of the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant, General T.Y Buratai, which is to have a professional responsive Nigerian army in the discharge of its constitutional role is met.

Islamic State’s West African branch claimed responsibility for an attack on a Nigerian army base in northeastern Borno state and said its fighters had killed 20 soldiers.

Gunmen on motorbikes killed 43 people in waves of attacks in northern Nigeria, police said Monday, the latest violence by criminal gangs raiding villages and stealing livestock.
