Boko Haram: 608 Ex-Terrorists To Be Freed – Nigerian Army

The Nigerian military says no fewer than 608 repentant Boko Haram insurgents are currently undergoing De-radicalisation, Rehabilitation and Reintegration (DRR) Programme by Operation Safe Corridor (OSC) at Malam-Sidi, Gombe State.

Brig:- Gen. Musa Ibrahim, Commandant DRR Camp OSC, made this known when the Managing Director, North East Development Commission (NEDC), Mohammed Alkali visited the camp on Saturday.

Simon Mallam, Nigerian Prof Killed In Gas Explosion Buried

The remains of late Prof. Simon Mallam who died in a gas explosion in Sabo Tasha, Kaduna have been laid to rest in his hometown, Malagum, Kaura Local Government, Kaduna State.

Mallam, a Professor of Nuclear Physics at the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, was until his death, the Chairman of Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.

He was among the eight persons killed in the gas explosion on Jan. 4, 2020.

Mallam’s remains were laid to rest on Saturday, after a funeral Service held at the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), Malagum.

Eco: Nigerian Traders Send Message To Buhari Govt, ECOWAS

The National Association of Nigerian Traders (NANTS), has advised the Federal Government and Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to address corruption and regional cross border trade challenges before adopting ECO Currency.

Mr. Ken Ukaoha, NANTS President, gave the advice on Saturday, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.

According to him, the general problem facing the ECOWAS Trade Liberalisation Scheme (ETLS) must also be addressed.

Ukaoha said that ECOWAS and Nigeria must seek to address the myriad of challenges facing regional cross border trade such as intimidation, harassment of traders, bribery and corruption.

CBN Releases Guidelines On Nigerian Payment Systems

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has released the Nigerian Payment Systems Risk and Information Security Management Framework to guide the management of risks associated with payment systems in the country.

The CBN released the guidelines on its website on Monday and said one of the objectives of the framework was to identify and address sources of systemic risks within the Nigerian Payment System landscape.

The bank explained that it would help to establish sound governance arrangements to oversee the risk management framework by ensuring that risks were identified, monitored and treated.

Foreign Affairs Reacts To Eviction Of Nigerian Commission

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Friday that the Nigerian High Commission has not been evicted from its diplomatic property in Ghana.

Mr Ferdinand Nwonye, Spokesperson of the ministry who made this known in a statement in Abuja, also said that there was no diplomatic row between Nigeria and Ghana.

CAC: Nigerian Govt Appoints New Acting Registrar-General

The Federal Government on Tuesday appointed Hajiya Saratu Shafii as the Acting Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

Mr. Moses Adaguusu, the Head of Public Affairs of the commission made this known in a statement in Abuja.

Adaguusu said Shafii’s appointment was conveyed to CAC through the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment.

He said that until her appointment, Shafii was a Director, Incorporated Trustees Department of the commission.
