As Mosques reopen in Ekiti after the COVID-19 lockdown, the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), said individuals are expected to come with private praying mats and ablution kettles.

Alhaji Kunle Sanni, President, NSCIA Ekiti chapter, in a statement on Thursday, said the services in the Mosque would be in line with directives of government on COVID-19 protocol.

Sanni said investigation by the religious body had confirmed that a substantial number of Mosques operating in the state were ready to reopen.

Eld-Fitri: Pray In Your Homes – Sultan Tells Muslims

Sultan of Sokoto and President-General, Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has urged Muslims across the country to pray in their respective homes during the forthcoming Eld-Fitri festival, if that is what the situation requires.

Abubakar in a statement signed by Professor Salisu Shehu, Deputy Secretary-General, NSCIA, gave this advice in view of the current coronavirus pandemic.

The Eld-Fitri festival which signifies the end of the one-month of Ramadan fast is billed to take place on Saturday if the Ramadan fast is 29 or Sunday if the Ramadan fast will be 30.
