Why General Adeniyi Was Removed As Commander

The Nigerian Army on Tuesday effected a major shake up and released the postings and appointments of some senior officers.

The posting was approved by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt Gen TY Buratai.

However, one of the senior officers affected by the shake up was Maj Gen OG Adeniyi, who was redeployed from Headquarters Theatre Command OPLD Maiduguri to NARC as Senior Research Fellow.

Report coming from Dapchi, the headquarters of Bursari Local Government Area of Yobe State revealed that Boko Haram attacked the town on Wednesday evening. According to Channels Television, the suspected Boko Haram members attacked the town which is 100 kilometers from Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.

Boko Haram: Nigerian Army Rescues 3 Students In Borno

The Nigerian Army on Monday rescued three students of Federal Government Girls College, Maiduguri from the insurgents in Borno State.

Maj.-Gen. Olusegun Adeniyi, the Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole (OPLD), disclosed this while presenting the rescued victims to their families in Maiduguri.

The commander said that the students, including two females, were abducted alongside one male student on Maiduguri-Gubio Road on Sunday.

Nigerian Army Rewards 37 Officers, Soldiers For Gallantry

The Nigerian Army has rewarded 37 officers and soldiers of Operation Lafiya Dole (OPLD) in recognition of their gallantry in the ongoing counter insurgency campaign in the North-east.

The Nigerian Army Operations Media Coordinator, Col. Aminu Iliyasu, made the disclosure in a statement issued yesterday in Abuja.

Iliyasu disclosed that 37 officers and soldiers were identified by the military authorities in its periodic assessment of the conduct of troops under the OPLD.
