Nigerian Air Force Expects 12 Combat Aircraft For Boko Haram War

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) said it is expecting the delivery of 12 additional combat aircraft to be deployed in the fight against Boko Haram.

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, made this known Wednesday while on operational visit to the 407 Air Combat Training Group (407 ACTG) Kainji, Niger.

“We are expecting additional aircraft paid by the Federal Government,” he said.

Two Held As NAF Begins Investigation Into Flying Officer’s Death

The Nigerian Air Force says it has started an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of its Flying Officer Tolulope Arotile, who died on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, in a road accident.

In an interview, the NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, said two suspects are being held over Arotile’s death.

NAF had earlier explained that Arotile was “inadvertently hit by the reversing vehicle of an excited former Air Force secondary school classmate while trying to greet her.”

Air Force Acquires 22 New Fighter Jets, More Coming

The Nigerian Air Force has acquired 22 new aircraft in the last four and half years, with another 16 due for delivery soon.

Air Force Chief, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar made this known in Ado Ekiti during a visit to Governor Kayode Fayemi.

Abubakar said the force has the capacity to ensure the security of all Nigerians.

Nigerian Air Force Announces Fresh Recruitment

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced the recruitment of 2,079 new officers.

This was contained in a statement on Saturday by Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, Director of Public Relations and Information.

It said the recruits were expected to boost NAF capacity to effectively tackle security challenges in the country.

The Passing Out Parade (POP) of the Basic Military Training Course (BMTC) 40/2019 was held on Saturday at the Military Training Centre (MTC), Kaduna.

In his remarks, Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, stated that the officers were adequately trained to ensure that Nigeria’s territorial integrity
