Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has called for self-sacrifice, righteousness to transform Nigeria.

He spoke at the weekend during the 50th-anniversary lecture, award and dinner of the Shepherd Hill Baptist Church, Obanikoro, Lagos State, with then theme: The Role of Contemporary Church in Nation-Building: Pessimism, Optimism or Activism.

The church’s 50th anniversary began about two months ago with several activities and ended yesterday with the anniversary thanksgiving celebration.

Four men have been arrested in the northern Nigerian city of Kano for allegedly carrying out a false marriage on Facebook, which the Islamic enforcement agency said had mocked Islam.Kano is among 12 northern Nigeria states where Sharia law operates and the Hisbah enforcement agency said Wednesday the wedding was perceived to have made a mockery of the institute of marriage.

At least 50 people were killed in Nigeria when fuel from a crashed truck that they were siphoning up caught fire, a spokesman for the governor in central Benue state said on Tuesday.
