For Jude Idada, luck finally shone on him on Friday as he was named the 2019 winner of the Nigeria Prize for Literature, sponsored by Nigeria LNG Limited, for the cycle on Children’s Literature.

Idada’s Boom Boom edged out Mysteries at Ebenezer’s Lodge by Dunni Olatunde and The Great Walls of Benin by O.T. Begho to clinch the prize. The book had competed against 173 books submitted for the competition in March 2019.

Nigeria Army said the troops of Operation Lafiya Dole have captured 10 senior commanders of the Boko Haram insurgency group.

Army spokesman Aminu Iliyasu in a statement said the arrest of the insurgents was part of the Nigeria Army’s heightened level of fight against terrorism.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), yesterday, announced the discovery of crude oil and gas in the Kolmani River II Well on the Upper Benue Trough, Gongola Basin.

However, the corporation noted that the commercial viability of the discovery coming from drilling of a total depth of 13,701 feet before hitting oil and gas in several levels is yet to be ascertained.

Nigeria is among countries owing its annual dues to the cash strapped United Nations (UN), despite occupying the Deputy Secretary-General position.
