DSS Raises Alarm On Plot To Destabilise Nigeria During Xmas

The Department of State Services (DSS) has said that it has uncovered syndicated plots by certain elements to destabilise the country with protests at major Nigeria cities during the yuletide.

The service, in the statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Peter Afunanya, however warned parents, school authorities to prevail on their wards and students from identifying with the troublemakers.

Sylva: Nigeria Flared Gas Worth $1bn, 3000MW In 2017

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Mr. Timipre Sylva has disclosed that Nigeria flared about 324 billion cubic feet (bcf) of natural gas in 2017.

Sylva, who said this at the recent 9th annual gas summit of the Nigeria Liquefied Petroleum Gas Association (NLPGA), added that the volume of gas flared by the country in that year was worth $1 billion, and could as well produce for her 3000 megawatts (MW) of electricity daily.

The IMF Senior Resident Representative and Mission Chief for Nigeria, Mr Amine Mati, has said that Nigeria’s debt to gross domestic product ratio at 28 per cent has increased but is still below the average sub-Saharan Africa and Africa as a whole.

Senate Seeks Action As Nigeria Loses ₦250bn To Cybercrime

Disturbed by the ₦250 billion loss to cybercrime in 2017, the Senate yesterday urged the Federal Government to improve budgetary provisions for digital technology and cyber-dependence safety.

The upper legislative chamber therefore mandated its Committee on ICT and Cybercrime to engage stakeholders on the menace and chart path for the future of the country.
