Families Of 29 Deceased Police Officers Receive ₦15.9m

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has disbursed ₦15.9 million to the families of some officers and men of the force who died in the line of duty.

The disbursement, which took place at the FCT command is in line with the fulfillment of the inspector general of police, IGP Alkali Baba’s family welfare insurance scheme policy.

The cheques were presented to the next of kin of 29 deceased police officers of the rank of assistant superintendent of police, inspector, sergeant, and a civilian staff attached to the command between 2020 and 2021.

Police Officer Demoted For Praising Cult Activities

In response to the viral video which has been making rounds on the social media, the Nigeria Police Force has announced that its personnel, Isaac Mathew, who was seen in the video pledging allegiance to a cult group has been demoted.

The police spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, made this known in a statement on Sunday.

The police officer was caught in the viral video, singing, dancing and brandishing a rifle in praise of an undisclosed cult group Cult.

Controversial Ibadan-based broadcaster and publisher, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, who was recently detained by the Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB) of Nigeria Police Force, has been released.

Africa Daily News, New York can recall that Hamzat was arrested in the early hours of Thursday in Ibadan, Oyo State capital and was then taken to Abuja for interrogation.

The station, in a statement issued by Yousuph Grey Adebayo, Head of Station, Agidigbo 88.7 FM, Ibadan, insisted that Hamzat arrested only because he has been calling for justice in the murder of Mr. Timothy Adegoke.

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Monday ordered the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, and the Nigeria Police Force, to release a Facebook user, Mbarak Bala, who was arrested in Kaduna on February 28, 2020 for alleged blasphemous posts against Islam.
