Doctors Reveal What ‘ll Occur If Nigeria Relaxes Lockdown

The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) has condemned the decision taken by the President Muhammadu Buhari’s government, relaxing the Coronavirus lockdown in Abuja, Lagos and Ogun States.

The medical body described the decision as premature, adding that it can potentially expose more Nigerians to the deadly COVID-19.

The doctors warned that Nigeria could experience a surge in the number of Coronavirus cases.

The Kaduna State chapter of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) has threatened to withdraw its services over an alleged assault of a medical doctor in Kaduna state.

Chairman of the association, Dr Stephen Kache, in a press statement, demanded appropriate disciplinary action against a police inspector who allegedly assaulted a medical doctor in Kaduna on April 23.

NMA threatened to withdraw its services if the police failed to take disciplinary action against the inspector immediately.

According to them, the medical doctor in question was on legitimate duty with his valid identification when the incident happened.

The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), in Rivers State, has criticised the decision of the Federal Government to import 18 Chinese Doctors to fight the coronavirus.

The Rivers State NMA Chairperson, Dr. Obelebra Adebiyi, said the decision undermines the effort of health workers in Nigeria.
