NLC Fumes Over Alleged Plot To De-Register ASUU, Warns FG

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has issued a stern warning against reported moves by the Federal Government to withdraw the registration license of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), over the non-submission of its audited financial returns for over five years.

While dismissing the claims that ASUU had not submitted its audited financial returns to the Registrar of Trade Unions for over five years as required by the law, NLC maintained that the Union has submitted all its financial reports up till 2021.

In a fresh report, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have all come out to openly express their utter displeasure over the non-implementation of the ₦30,000 normal minimum wage which had been slated for workers in Zamfara  State.

Fresh reports reaching the desk of Africa Daily News, New York has revealed that the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has openly petitioned the Nigerian President, Muhammad Buhari while seeking for an immediate investigation of all the Nigerian state governors by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Related Commission, ICPC, over the alleged massive looting and mismanagement of public funds.

In a letter titled: Reviving the Economy: Our Response to Governors Prescriptions by its President, Ayuba Wabba, NLC faulted governors’ recent recommendations to revive the nation’s ailing economy.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Lagos State chapter, on Tuesday, issued a two-week ultimatum to the Federal Government to resolve issues with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

To avert the strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) billed to commence on Monday, the House of Representatives has offered organised labour some palliatives.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, at a negotiation meeting with labour on Sunday in Abuja said the palliatives would be included in the proposed 2021 budget.

The Rivers State Government has challenged the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to make good on its threat over the new minimum wage and face dire consequences.
