Don’t Sack Service Chiefs – Umahi Tells Buhari

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State, Friday, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to increase funding and logistics to the Nigeria Army, rather than contemplating sacking the Service Chiefs.

The Governor, who stated this during the ground-breaking ceremony of Nigeria Army Reference Hospital, Abakaliki, praised the Army for their gallantry and dedication towards securing the Territory of the Nation.

He noted that the assignment of the Army was not an easy task and as such, needed the full cooperation of Citizens at all levels to succeed.

Igbo separatist group the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has boasted that the Nigeria Army cannot be a hindrance to the burial ceremony of the parents of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu, already slated for February, 14.

According to a press release issued by the publicity secretary of IPOB, Emma Powerful, and made available to our correspondent in Owerri, the Igbo separatists accused the army of abandoning its main objectives of fighting in war fronts to harassing and intimidating indigenes of Kanu’s community.
