Police Nab 5 Over Alleged Kidnapping And Robbery In Niger

The Police in Niger have arrested five suspects for alleged kidnapping and armed robbery in Rafi and Mariga local government areas of the state.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Alhaji Usman Adamu, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna on Thursday.

Senate Rejects Budget Presented By Niger Delta Ministry

The Senate Committee on Niger Delta, yesterday, rejected the 2020 capital budget of ₦23 billion for the  Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs due to uncompleted projects in the region.

Chairman of the Committee, Peter Nwaoboshi made this known when the Minister, Godswill Akpabio appeared before the committee to defend the ministry’s budget of ₦25, 910,486,285.

The ministry is to reappear before the Committee on Monday, October 28.

Niger Republic bans rice exportation to Nigeria

The Republic of Niger has banned the exportation of rice to Nigeria in any form, the comptroller-general of Nigeria Customs Service Hameed Ali said on Monday.

Ali while speaking to journalists in Abuja said the Niger Republic took the decision because Nigeria had closed its borders.

“Goods that are on the prohibition list in Nigeria, such as rice, used clothes, poultry products and vegetable oil should not be exported to the country,” Ali said.

“As a result of this border closure, Niger Republic has already circulated an order banning the exportation of rice in any form to Nigeria.”

80% Of Health Facilities In Niger State Are Non-Functional

Despite the national drive for Universal Health Coverage (UHC), which ensures access to affordable and quality health care, over 80 percent of Primary Health Care (PHC) facilities are non-functional in Niger State, the government disclosed recently.
