Group Hails Buhari’s Acknowledgement Of Military Successes

An, NGO, The Unity Advocacy Group has lauded the acknowledgement of the successes recorded by the Military in the ongoing fight against insecurity by President Muhammadu Buhari in his recent Eid- el-fitr  message to Nigerians.

The Convener of the group, Mr Ifeanyi Aigbedion in a statement on Thursday, said the President’s message had shown presidential approval of the efforts of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

Aigbedion said that President Buhari in his message declared that the battle waged against the terrorists who were falsely masquerading under the name of Islam was approaching its conclusion.

UN Appeals For $1.8bn To Assist 7.8m Nigerians

The UN System in Nigeria, alongside partner NGOs, are collectively appealing for 1.08 billion dollars to provide urgent aid to 7.8 million vulnerable people in Nigeria’s North East.

The UN says the funding needed was less than 12 dollars a month to save someone’s life.

Mr. Edward Kallon, the UN Resident Coordinator in Nigeria, made the appeal on Thursday, during a high-level virtual meeting on Nigeria’s humanitarian response with the theme “North-East Nigeria: Act now, Avert the Worst”.
