Valencia Sues Netflix Over “Baila, Vini” Subtitles Dispute

Valencia CF has officially filed a lawsuit against Netflix and production company Conspiração Filmes over allegedly inaccurate subtitles in the documentary “Baila, Vini”, claiming the misrepresentation damages its honour and the reputation of its supporters.

The legal move follows public demands for correction after the club asserts the documentary wrongly shows Valencia fans chanting “mono, mono” (Spanish for “monkey, monkey”) directed at Vinícius Jr., instead of the actual chant “tonto, tonto” (“stupid, stupid”) heard in the stadium.

Realness Institute, in partnership with entertainment streaming platform, Netflix, has selected 12 participants for the 2022 Episodic Lab (EPL) and Development Executive Traineeship (DET).

Realness Institute, a non-profit organisation, aims to empower Africans to tell their stories from an unapologetically African point of view.

Realness Institute stated this in a statement by Rick Nwanso of Presêth Communications on Thursday in Lagos.

Netflix, which has set up an office in Nigeria, has unveiled its first Nigerian original – a six-part drama series from Vaya director, 45 year-old Akin Omotoso.
