At least seven climbers have been confirmed dead and five others remain missing after an avalanche struck a Himalayan peak in north-eastern Nepal on Monday November 3, 2025. The disaster occurred near the base camp of Yalung Ri mountain in the Dolakha district, roughly 09:00 local time (03:15 GMT), according to expedition organizers Seven Summit Treks.

No fewer than 50 people in Nepal and India in recent days have died following a heavy monsoon rains and landslides have killed almost, authorities shave confirmed. 

In western Nepal at least 22 people died after landslides buried more than 100 houses on Friday, police official Narayan Dangi told reporters.

Pandemic Shuts Down Everest As Nepal Suspends All Permits

Nepal on Friday barred climbers from all mountains — including Everest — over the coronavirus pandemic, in a major blow to its tourism industry.

The Himalayan country, which has so far confirmed one coronavirus case, earns 4.4 million dollars a year from climbing permits while the losses to expedition organisers will be even higher.
