The National Examinations Council (NECO) which is an examination board in Nigeria has revealed that five states in the country are yet to remit their examination fees of their candidates which is worth over ₦2 billion, spanning from 2012 to date.

Prof Dantani Wushishi who is the Registrar of NECO had made this revalation in an interview with newsmen on Friday, in Lagos.

He was in the state to monitor the ongoing 2022 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) organized by the council.

End SARS: NECO Postpones Examination

The National Examination Council (NECO) has announced the reschedule of Paper I Computer Studies Practicals which was to take place on Monday 19 October 2020 to November 16 2020.

This was made known in a statement by the Head, Information and Public Relations Division, NECO, Azeez Sani.

Sani said the paper was rescheduled because of the End SARS protests that blocked the free movement of transport at the entrance gate into Benin City, the Edo state capital.

The National Examination Council, NECO, has disclosed that it is now compulsory for all examination officials to swear an oath of allegiance before participating in its forthcoming examinations.

President Muhammadu Buhari has come under attack over the sack of the Registrar, National Examination Council, NECO, Prof. Charles Uwakwe.

NECO registrar was sacked on Wednesday for fraudulent practices and suppression of official records.

President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked the Registrar, National Examination Council, NECO, Prof. Charles Uwakwe and outright dismissal of four top management officials of the council over series of allegations.

NECO Sanctions Schools Charging Above ₦9,850 Registration

The National Examinations Council, NECO, has vowed to sanction schools charging above the government-approved fee of ₦9,850 as registration fee for the 2020 Senior School Certificate Examination, SSCE.

Dr Abubakar Gana, the acting Registrar of NECO, made this resolve during a visit to the Council by the House of Representatives Committee on Basic Education and Services on Wednesday in Abuja.

52% Fail English, Mathematics As NECO Releases Results

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released its November/December Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) with 33,576 candidates, representing 48.68 per cent, scoring credits in both English and Mathematics for 2019, while 52 per cent failed the two subjects.

NECO’s Acting Registrar, Mr. Abubakar Mohammed Gana, made this known in a statement released yesterday.

According to the acting registrar, 70,140 candidates registered for the examination.

He further stated that 50,057 candidates, representing 72.57 per cent of the total, got five credits and above irrespective of English and Mathematics in NECO.

NECO Invites DSS To Join Fight Against Exam Malpractice

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has sought for collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS) to check malpractice in the conduct of the Council’s examination.

Chairman, Governing Board of NECO, Dr. Abubakar Saddique who led the Acting Registrar and other management teams on a visit to the Director-General of DSS in Abuja, said such collaboration would ensure the credibility of the Council’s examination.

Dr. Saddique explained that the Council has put in place measures aimed at checking examination malpractice, but noted that without an adequate security architecture, such measures would not yield the desired results.

He stated that among
