ASUU Suspends Warning Strike After Overnight NEC Meeting

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has suspended its ongoing two-week warning strike following an overnight meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC) in Abuja.

ASUU National President, Professor Chris Piwuna, announced the decision during a press briefing on Wednesday, confirming that the NEC meeting, which began late Tuesday, ended around 4:00 a.m.

Piwuna explained that the suspension was a result of renewed engagement with government representatives and appeals from stakeholders including students, parents, and the Nigeria Labour Congress.

NBA Gives Detailed Reasons For Withdrawing Invitation To el-Rufai

The Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, has said that the withdrawal of Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s invitation was due to the fact that only three members of its National Executive Committee, NEC, supported the motion to retain him as a speaker at its 60th Annual General Conference (AGC).

Africa Today News, New York had reported that the Association had withdrawn its invitation to the Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir el-Rufai, following protests from some lawyers.
